Editorial.

The article provides information about the publication of the journal "Journal of the Operational Research Society." The journal has introduced the concept of Practice Notes, which are short papers describing applications, which may not be fully implemented yet or totally finished but are already showing promise and likely to be of interest to readers of the journal because they are likely to help readers in their practice and thinking. During 2003, the journal launched the system for electronic submission and handling of papers. In the near future, publishers will add the possibility of advanced on-line publication, which will allow authors and the readers to see accepted papers in advance of hard copy publication.
