Abstract

Tabernaemontana divaricata(L.) R. Br is a medicinal plant which is blongs to the family of Apocyanaceae, the whole plant extract possess many biological activities such as antioxidant activity, antiinflammatory activity and it has a very good local anesthetic and anti cancer activity. Therefore, the present study is an attempt to evaluate the present of secondary metabolites from ethanolic extract ofTabernaemontana divaricata(L.) using HPTLC analysis which was carried out to find the alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, poly phenols, steroids and tannins. In the results, the selected secondary metabolites were present in the ethanolic extract ofT. divaricata(L.). Based on the results, this study can be concluded that this plant has variety of biological activities may be presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, poly phenols, steroids and tannins in it.
