Abstract
- The article examines how to live as a single individual, the concept propounded by theologist SØlan Kierkegaard. It explains how Kierkegaard demarcated his concept of the crowd from other forms of human community, disclosing it as a state of existence in which the imago Dei becomes diluted and eventually lost. Girardian mimetic theory acts as a hermeneutical tool by which to diagnose instances of the crowd in Kierkegaard's writing and to decipher what it means for the single individual.
