Abstract

The article discusses insurance coverage for natural catastrophe risks. It states Hurricane Andrew gave the experience to insurance industry how to cover risk by building resiliency by evolving sophisticated methods through probable maximum loss (PML) estimation prior to catastrophes and preparing for the events by offering financial incentives for items such as storm shutters, masonry building for earthquake-prone zones and also embraces technology for covering infectious disease events.
