Abstract

The concept of energy efficiency is applied in the context of efficient use of energy materials and media in various stages of production, transmission, distribution and energy consumption. Implementation of the principles of energy efficiency in practice is taking action, whether producers or consumers of energy, resulting in the reduction of energy consumption per unit of output without reducing the level or quality of services consumed. Buildings form a basic pillar of smart cities concept where all life processes and nerve centers of social life are read, in order to radically improve quality of life, opportunity, prosperity, social and economic development, thanks to the use of the new technology. The building sector has been identified by various studies as a sector that offers considerable potential for the cost-effective reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, making it an important field for climate protection action. The current global trends lead to fulfillment of specified environmental and economic objectives in all sectors. A significant role towards realizing these objectives has in particular the implementation of the latest technologies in all processes at all levels. This paper deals with the problematics of current economic and environmental trends in building sector in Slovakia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
