Abstract

A NiS<subscript>2</subscript>-modified sulfurized polyacrylonitrile composite is prepared by simply co-heating a mixture of sulfur, NiCO<subscript>3</subscript>, and polyacrylonitrile. The NiS<subscript>2</subscript>–SPAN cathode exhibits superior electrochemical performance, delivering a high reversible capacity of 1533 mA h g<subscript>sulfur</subscript><superscript>−1</superscript> (705 mA h g<subscript>composite</subscript><superscript>−1</superscript>) at 0.2 A g<superscript>−1</superscript> after 100 cycles and good rate capability (1180 mA h g<subscript>sulfur</subscript><superscript>−1</superscript> at 2 A g<superscript>−1</superscript>).
