Abstract

The paper compares the views of the primary school teachers (primary and lower secondary school level) on the quality of the current decentralized curriculum with the quality of the previous centralized model of curriculum that was applied before 1989 (the end of the communist regime). After that year, methods and forms of school work changed in some way, but aims and content remained unchanged. The school reform came in 2008 with the legal obligation to create school curriculum. The paper presents several results of a questionnaire research about the perception of the old and the new model of curriculum. The research was performed on a sample of nearly one thousand primary school teachers in Slovakia. The paper presents an interesting statistical analysis and visualization showing a number of critical views about the nature and development of the school curriculum. These views are compared from the perspective of a number of teacher population characteristics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
