Abstract

The article focuses on the history of Psychology, as an academic discipline in Australia and the attitude of Catholics to the field of study. It is noted that the first professor of psychology in Australia was Tasman Lovell during 1878-1958 and other appointments include H. L. Fowler as Associate Professor in the University of Western Australia. The author observes that some strong comments questioning psychology in non-academic Catholic media sources were witnessed in early 20th century.
