Abstract

An essay is presented on the meanings embedded in a tulip tree leaf and the associative process of mind. It discusses metaphors, consciousness, and identity of things. The author relates how a single leaf can set off a chain of associations in the mind and how a single leaf may possess numerous facets of possible implication and interpretation.
