Abstract

This article focuses on certain research problems related to external validity are caused by conceptualizing and analyzing experiments on the basis of classical analysis of variance technique. The article is predicted upon the methodology of representative design. A representative design is one in which "actual" data rather than experimental artifacts are analyzed and interpreted. Furthermore, in an era when the relevance of Speech-Communication research is consistently being questioned, representative validity should become primary concern of researchers in the field. As has been discussed throughout this paper, the general linear model offers significant advantages in terms of its ability to provide representative validity.
