Abstract

Coating an ultrathin platinum-rich skin on nanosubstrates made of other cheaper metals is an effective strategy for fabricating active electrocatalysts with low Pt-content. We developed a facile one-pot synthesis of Pd@Pt<subscript>3</subscript>Ni core–shell nanobranches with ultrathin Pt<subscript>3</subscript>Ni{111} skins that have active and durable catalytic performances for ethanol electrooxidation.
