Abstract

Three organic-inorganic hybrid materials, namely [RE(H<subscript>2</subscript>O)<subscript>3</subscript>K(H<subscript>2</subscript>O)<subscript>2</subscript> (pddc)<subscript>2</subscript>]<subscript>2</subscript>H<subscript>4</subscript>[SiW<subscript>12</subscript>O<subscript>40</subscript>]·2H<subscript>2</subscript>O (RE = Pr (1), Nd (2); H<subscript>2</subscript>pddc = 3,4-pyridine dicarboxylic acid) and [Y(pzdc)(H<subscript>2</subscript>O)3]<subscript>2</subscript>H<subscript>2</subscript>[SiW<subscript>12</subscript>O<subscript>40</subscript>]·4H<subscript>2</subscript>O (3) (H<subscript>2</subscript>pzdc = 2,3-pyrazine dicarboxylic acid) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, UV spectra, TG analyses and X-ray crystallography. Single crystal X-ray analyses reveal that 1-3 all exhibit 2D layer structures. Interestingly, 1 and 2 are isostructural differenting from 3. In 3, the polyoxoanions [SiW<subscript>12</subscript>O<subscript>40</subscript>]<superscript>4-</superscript> connect the rare earth cations [Y(pzdc)(H<subscript>2</subscript>O)<subscript>3</subscript>]2C via Y-O bonds forming a (4, 4)-connected 2D topology net with Schl€afli symbol of 3<superscript>2</superscript>.6<superscript>2</superscript>.7<superscript>2</superscript>.
