Abstract
- This communication describes an efficient co-catalyst Co<subscript>3</subscript>O<subscript>4</subscript> nanoparticle with a tunable two-electron water oxidation reaction pathway in photoelectrochemical H<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>2</subscript> production. The photoluminescence measurement explains that the promotion effect is due to the accelerated activation of water to ṖOH. The increased Faraday efficiency of H<subscript>2</subscript>O<subscript>2</subscript> for the Co<subscript>3</subscript>O<subscript>4</subscript>/WO<subscript>3</subscript> sample also verifies that the promotion effect to a two-electron water oxidation reaction of Co<subscript>3</subscript>O<subscript>4</subscript> is universal to other semiconductor photoanodes.
