Snakebite envenomation in the Caribbean: The role of medical and scientific cooperation.

The article discusses the role of medical and scientific cooperation on the snakebites in the Caribbean, a region that includes a number of countries having venomous snakes, as the disease has been neglected and lacked the attention it deserves. The need for a concerted regional strategy to effectively reduce the burden of snakebite envenomation in the region is tackled. The essence of strengthening the local scientific capacity to study venoms in the Caribbean is also explored.
