Abstract

This article is devoted to hypotheses about the stay of representatives of Ancient Rus in the Caspian region and related to this hypothesis of the Norman theory. It is noted that sources provide valuable recordings on the incursions of Scandinavians known by the name Rus' in the Caspian region. However, there are still some theories that call into question the origin of these facts. The goals of this article are to review the evidence of Rus' activities in this region and shed light on the interpretation of this evidence in comparison with the Norman theory.
