Abstract

As many as 20 Manhattan automated teller machines (ATMs), and the cash inside them, have been stolen since January 2004, the New York Post has reported. Citing a police source, the newspaper said last week that thieves have netted nearly $200,000 from ATMs, which held between $4,000 and $22,000 of cash. The stand-alone machines were in retail locations. Police officials said it probably took more than one person to carry the ATMs, according to the paper.
