Abstract

The experiments described demonstrate that the in vitro lysis of chicken erythrocytes (CRC) by allergized mouse spleen cells (ASC) is an antibody-dependent phenomenon. Supernatants obtained from cultures of ASC were shown to contain antibody which could effect antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity. The cytolysis observed with ASC was inhibited by both an IgG fraction and a F(ab')<subscript>2</subscript> portion of rabbit anti-mouse IgG. No inhibition was obtained by pretreating the ASC with AKR anti-C3Hθ serum and guinea-pig complement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
