Abstract

The primary and secondary responses to ∅X174 have been studied in T cell-deprived (T-) and control CBA mire including sham-operated (T<superscript>+</superscript>) and normal mice. The effect of pertussis on the immune response of these mice has been measured. It is concluded that: (1) the γG and memory responses to ∅X are produced in T <superscript>-</superscript> mire even though greatly reduced in comparison with T<superscript>+</superscript> and normal mice; (2) pertussis appears to enhance the γG response in T<superscript>-</superscript> mice while suppressing it in T <superscript>+</superscript> and normal mice.
