Abstract

In the process of boring and trepanning association (BTA) deep hole drilling, the guide block plays the role of guiding, balancing the cutting force and extruding and polishing the machined surface. In this paper, the trapezoidal guide block and the spiral guide block are designed on the basis of ordinary guide block. With simulation and experiment, the cutting force, cutting vibration, and cutting temperature of guide blocks of different shapes during drilling process have been analyzed. When the spiral guide block deep hole drilling is compared with ordinary and trapezoidal guide blocks, it ensures effective cutting performance of BTA deep hole drilling. It also improves the quality of machined surface of the workpiece, reduces the tool wear, and forms stable chips. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
