Abstract

This paper is focused on carbon coating of anatase type TiO2 by underwater discharge with a capillary in water carbon electrode. The discharge electrode consists of a graphite electrode covered by an alumina tube for insulation and a ground electrode. The aqueous solution used for discharging is tap water with an electric conductivity of about $120~\mu \text{S}$ /cm. The applied power for TiO2 carbon coating is about 500 W. As a result of TEM and energy dispersive spectrum measurements, a carbon layer with thickness of several nanometers was measured on the surface of TiO2. Raman analysis also confirmed that the layer is either graphite or glassy carbon. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
