Abstract

Traditional Japanese values of simplicity and economy of space feature in this kitchen which combines elements of a standard enclosed kitchen design with a contemporary semi-open plan. Contributing to the streamlined look are the cupboard doors, which are faced with the same speckled, grey-black granite as the benchtops. On the far side of the kitchen, a built-in polyurethane wall unit houses fridge, pantry and shelves for crockery and glasses, combining Tokyo-style futurism with classical Japanese practicality. Favorite designer kitchen utensils and treasured antiques complete the look.
