Sociology in Two Dimensions.

The article presents information on the book "The Principles of Sociology," by Edward Alsworth Ross. Salient characteristic of the book is the range of the data from which illustrative material is culled. Writer Ross is far-traveled, who has literally surveyed mankind from China to Peru. His instances have frequently the piquancy of an eye-witness report and even apart from personal reminiscences he reveals a genuine talent for the use of striking and even convincing examples. Of all the numerous problems treated there is probably not a single one that is settled by an appeal to first principles.
