Abstract
- L-arginine (organic), potassium carbonate (inorganic) and boric acid (inorganic) are taken in a ratio (1:1:10) to produce L-arginine potassium pentaborate dihydrate (LAKB<subscript>5</subscript>) solution using deionized water as a solvent. A solvent evaporation method was adopted to grow semiorganic crystal at optimum condition. Single crystal analysis was carried on LAKB<subscript>5</subscript> crystal to confirm that it belongs to the orthorhombic crystal system. The spectroscopic investigation was carried on the as-grown sample which confirms the presence of LAKB<subscript>5</subscript>. Optical studies were carried on title material using the UV-VIS absorption spectrum to estimate the energy gap of LAKB<subscript>5</subscript>. TG-DSC analysis shows three-stage decomposition in the material and thermal stability of the material was estimated. From the DTA curve, it shows a sharp endothermic peak at 200.79°C which shows that the title compound has crystalline nature. Grown crystal shows that the material is very much suitable for frequency conversion and optoelectronic device fabrication. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
