Abstract
- The new compound Аl<subscript>2</subscript>(SO<subscript>4</subscript>)<subscript>3</subscript> ⋅ 8(CH<subscript>3</subscript>)<subscript>2</subscript>SO, which cannot be prepared by direct synthesis, has been synthesized from an Аl<subscript>2</subscript>(SO<subscript>4</subscript>)<subscript>3</subscript> ⋅ 8(CH<subscript>3</subscript>)<subscript>2</subscript>SO ⋅ 3Н<subscript>2</subscript>О glass. The compound has been identified by X-ray diffraction. Based on IR spectra, it has been concluded that the Al<superscript>3+</superscript> ion has mixed coordination to dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) molecules, and the ligands are linked to each other through the S and O atoms.
