Abstract

The article discusses the work of actress Alla Nazimova in theater. Comments on her performances in the Russian drama "Infidele," are also presented. The significant point is that she demonstrated her ability to conceive and vitalize three strongly contrasted types of womankind, a child wife of good natural instincts, but conscienceless through lack of moral training, a malignant degenerate, and an arch coquette, insatiable in conquest, but proof against the temptation she provoked. In respect of versatility it is tolerably safe to declare, even now, that there is no actress known to the American stage who can approach her.
