Abstract
- The radiography exam is an essential auxiliary resource for endodontic therapy. However, by generating two-dimensional images, it can mask or omit important information for the handling of some cases, especially the complex ones. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) produces 3-dimensional images and, for some years now, is available and accessible for applied in Endodontics with the purpose to overcome the limitations of the radiographic image. Thus, the purpose of this study was to discuss the indications and advantages of CBCT through the reporting of two clinical cases of complex diagnosis and treatment. Through the report of 2 cases, this work corroborated with indications that have been suggested for the request of the CBCT in Endodontics. The clinical cases described showed that the prescription of CBCT was essential for the diagnosis and the treatment procedures become easier and more predictable, attesting to the important tool that tomographic examination can be for the endodontic therapy.
