Abstract

Technological advances, such as time-sharing and networks, have increased the use of the computer in the educational process. However, with few exceptions, the computer is usually used as an ancillary device and not totally integrated into course work. Described is a research methods course in sociology which utilizes the computer in all facets of instruction: facilitating statistical computation, providing individually paced learning, and assisting the instructor in administrative tasks. Pragmatic considerations in developing such a course are discussed. Student and faculty evaluations indicate that such a course is well liked and successful in its objectives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
