Abstract
- The article discusses a case of a 42-year-old man who had an eruption on his chest and shoulders that had been present since early adolescence. Histologic examination revealed a cyst in the mid-dermis lined by flattened squamous epithelium, with a marked granular layer. The cyst was filled with compact laminated keratinous material and vellus hairs. The findings were consistent with eruptive vellus hair cysts. Another type of lesions consisted of widened follicular openings with projection of several hair shafts on his back, nose, and cheeks, compatible with the clinical picture of trichostasis spinulosa.
