Abstract

The mRNA levels of p21, which regulates the cell cycle progression and cell proliferation, were upregulated by almost twofold in both HL-60 cells and K562 cells. ATRA is known to induce cell differentiation and inhibit cell proliferation in leukemia cells.[5] Consistently, we observed an obvious cell differentiation and a significant reduction in cell proliferation when treating HL-60 cells with ATRA (Figure A,B).
