Abstract

TiO<subscript>2</subscript> nanoparticles are successively functionalized with [Mn(κ<superscript>2</superscript>N<superscript>1</superscript>,N<superscript>2</superscript>-ttpy)(CO)<subscript>3</subscript>Br] as catalyst and [Ru(bpy)<subscript>3</subscript>]<superscript>2+</superscript> as photosensitizer to yield Ru<superscript>II</superscript>/TiO<subscript>2</subscript>/Mn<superscript>I</superscript>. Under continuous irradiation at 470 nm and in the presence of a sacrificial electron donor, this triad reduces CO<subscript>2</subscript> to HCOOH (TON<subscript>max</subscript> = 27) with 100% selectivity.
