Abstract

The article comments on recent political developments in the U.S. Within the past month two journals have been started in Boston, advocating step-by-step national Socialism. The first of these, the "Nationalist," which numbers among its contributors men of all creeds and no creed; and the other, the "Dawn," which is avowedly Christian in faith. Senator Edmunds has recently made a comment on political workers by saying that is it wise and proper to reward political workers by office. He testifies that the current politics is now "chiefly carried on by those whose ends are purely personal." The Transcontinental Association railroads have special problems of their own to solve and special circumstances to face; hence the need of an association separate from the others, although all American roads between the Atlantic and the Pacific are carriers, to a greater or less degree, of transcontinental traffic.
