Abstract
- Noah Cowan, the newly installed director of the Toronto International Film Festival, last week announced that he has booked the North American premiere of DreamWorks' upcoming animated feature "Shark Tale," into a first-ever afternoon matinee slot for his event. Toronto's aim to use Hollywood to gain the clout to feature the best in international cinema in its annual September film lineup. In the increasingly global film business Cowan envisions, such innovative the U.S. filmmakers as Todd Haynes and Todd Solondz, will continue to get bankrolled by Europeans, who in turn will look across the Atlantic Ocean for inspiration.
