Abstract

Densities and ultrasonic velocities were measured for the mixtures of (nitrobenzene + cyclohexane) and (N,N-dimethylformamide + cyclohexane) over the volume fraction range 0.1–1 at 298–318 K. Different derived parameters such as adiabatic compressibility, Intermolecular free length, acoustic impedance, molar volume, molar sound velocity, molar compressibility, relative association, excess volume, and excess adiabatic compressibility have been computed. The observed positive and negative values of the excess parameters for all the studied mixtures were explained based on the intermolecular interactions in these mixtures. Furthermore, different empirical relations were used to compare the binary mixture densities and ultrasonic velocities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
