Abstract

Imagery in sport is a commonly used technique in recent years. Imagination in sporting abilities is a mental training tool that requires creativity and helps to use the technique, which affects the performance of athletes of all levels. The aim of this study is to examine the imagination of children in different branches in sport in terms of some variables. In the research, general screening model was used. The universe of the study consists of a total of 147 athletes including 25 karate, 25 gymnastics, 25 taekwondo, 25 judo, 25 wrestling and 22 boxer between the ages of 10-14. In this study, in order to determine the children's imagination in sport, Hall, Munroe-Chandler, Fishburne and Hall (2009) developed by the Caucasus (2011) by the Turkish version of the validity reliability study adapted to the scale was used in the Children's Dream Scale. The data obtained from the study were evaluated in SPSS 25.0 package program. The normality test of the data was used skewness - kurtosis analysis. Since the data were distributed normally, parametric tests were used. One - Way ANOVA test was used for binary variables. Demographic information is given as% frequency. According to the findings obtained from the study, when the gender, age and branches of the athletes were taken into consideration, statistically significant differences could not be determined (p> 0.05). Significant differences were determined in the evaluations made at the age of sports. It has been determined that children who have been doing sports for 7-9 years and 4-6 years have better imagination for children who have been doing sports for 1-3 years (p <0.01). As a result, it is seen that there is a relation with the sports ages while there is no relation between the imagination status of the athletes and gender, age and branches. As the age of sports increased, imagination was found to be at a good level. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
