Abstract
- The article presents information related to several socio-political issues. Japan is slipping into depression, prices falling, and unemployment rising. The yen grows weaker each day. All Asia feels the effects. Hong Kong reports its first recession in ten years. On the surface, the U.S. economy seems to benefit from the turmoil, its stocks buoyed by frightened foreign investors, its inflation checked by cheap imports. With their five nuclear tests, India's right-wing leaders have committed a crime against India and its neighbors. The Pakistani leaders, who matched India with six tests, have done no less. The stage is set for a deadly arms race involving India, Pakistan, and China.
