Abstract
- Analyzing speeches made by George W. Bush and Barack Obama in reaction to the most pressing and critical issues during their terms of office, Neüff aims to illuminate the characteristics of modern presidential crisis rhetoric and to examine the way that presidents build up their crisis narratives. In this sense, the author argues, crisis constitutes both a threat and an opportunity for presidents. A diachronic study on speeches of more presidents and on more occasions would have improved the validity of the author's argument. [Extracted from the article]
