Abstract

Simple chemical route namely Chemical Bath Deposition (CBD) has been successfully employed for deposition of Bismuth Selenide (Bi<subscript>2</subscript>Se<subscript>3</subscript>) nanoparticles on porous TiO<subscript>2</subscript> at room temperature. The effect of deposition time of Bi<subscript>2</subscript>Se<subscript>3</subscript> on structural, surface morphological and optical properties of TiO<subscript>2</subscript>/Bi<subscript>2</subscript>Se<subscript>3</subscript> bilayer film has been systematically investigated. X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray spectra analysis was confirmed the Bi<subscript>2</subscript>Se<subscript>3</subscript> nanoparticles are of effectively deposited on anatase TiO<subscript>2</subscript> film. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) images shows the TiO<subscript>2</subscript> film uniformly covers by Bi<subscript>2</subscript>Se<subscript>3</subscript> nanoparticles. Optical absorption spectrum is reflecting the considerable enhancement in absorption of visible light with increasing deposition time of Bi<subscript>2</subscript>Se<subscript>3</subscript> on TiO<subscript>2</subscript> thin film.
