Abstract
- The article reports that the hypertonic saline/dextran (HSD) is known to provide a fast recovery of macro and microhemodynamics after resuscitation of hemorrhagic shock. Along with improved sinusoidal perfusion, an immediate significant decrease of the number of stagnant leukocytes in the liver microcirculation is also present, as compared to crystalloid solutions. Whether these effects last a long time is questionable. In addition, there is evidence that positive immunomodulatory effects are associated with less leukocyte accumulation in the liver. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of HSD 8 hours after hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation.
