Abstract
- The article discusses the contribution of writer John Ruskin to art education and training in Great Britain and the differences of his methods to that of government-sponsored art training system called South Kensington managed by Henry Cole. Topics include the claim by Robert Hewison that Ruskin's style was imaginative and romantic anti-capitalist while Cole's was rational and utilitarian, as well as Ruskin's training under Charles Runciman and Copley Fielding.
