Abstract

The spin orientation and spontaneous magnetostriction of multicomponent Tb<subscript>x</subscript>Dy<subscript>1-x-y</subscript>Pr<subscript>y</subscript>(Fe<subscript>0.9</subscript>B<subscript>0.1</subscript>)<subscript>1.93</subscript> (0.10 ≤ x ≤ 0.25, 0.30 ≤ y ≤ 0.60) Laves phases were studied by step-scanning their (440) X-ray diffraction lines. The easy magnetization direction (EMD) of the, Laves phases changed from the «100» to «111» axis when x was increased from 0.10 to 0.25. With increasing y, the EMD of Tb<subscript>0.15</subscript>Dy<subscript>0.85-y</subscript>Pr<subscript>y</subscript>(Fe<subscript>0.9</subscript>B<subscript>0.1</subscript>)<subscript>1.93</subscript> and Tb<subscript>0.2</subscript>Dy<subscript>0.8-y</subscript>Pr<subscript>y</subscript>(Fe<subscript>0.9</subscript>B<subscript>0.1</subscript> )<subscript>1.93</subscript> Laves phases `reoriented from the «100» to «111» axis. The magnetostriction coefficient λ<subscript>111</subscript> of Tb<subscript>x</subscript>Dy<subscript>1-x-y</subscript>Pr<subscript>y</subscript>(Fe<subscript>0.9</subscript>B<subscript>0.1</subscript>)<subscript>1.93</subscript> Layes phases increased with increasing x (or y) when y (or x) was kept constant.
