Abstract
- The article considers the 1950s history of the right-wing popular front which embraced anti-Semitic and/or conspiratorial elements of the right, by discussing the magazine "American Mercury" and its owner Russell Maguire. It reports businessman Maguire gained control of the magazine in 1952 which was at that point under the editorial leadership of William Bradford Huie became the editor. It provides background of Maquire's education, business experience, and character and an overview of conservatism during the period.
