Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the life and work of Czech protestant theologian Jan Milič Lochman (1922-2004) and the influence of Tomas Garrique Masaryk on Lochman´s concept of thinking. The author of this paper describes Lochman's works, especially the Decalogue and the Credo, and emphasizes the truth and the struggle for truth. It also highlights the difficult situation between the World Wars in Europe, where ideological struggle was present and the rise of Nazi Germany occured. Lochman and Masaryk are symbols of the unity of thought and deeds, while emphasizing the importance of human relationships. The study emphasizes the importance of democracy and freedom in the thinking of Masaryk while rejecting totalitarianism and violence. Masaryk and Lochman tried to bring Christian thoughts into a non-religious society. Both are characterized by love for man and philanthropy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
