Abstract

Focuses on plans of U.S. President Harry S. Truman to get rid of Spanish dictator Francisco Franco, without the use of occupation troops. Plans of the State Department to publish Nazi documents which show how the Franco government served the Axis as a matter of policy during the World War II; Intentions of the Department to publish the book of these documents called the White Book; Plans of the U.S. to create a situation, which will make Spain, a fit area for intervention by the United Nations; Argument of the American military men that Spain is strategically important for the U.S.; Recommendation of Under Secretary of State Dean Acheson for the removal of Franco, keeping aside military considerations; Spread of propaganda in Spain that the United States and the United Nations have been attacking the integrity of the whole Spanish nation.
