Abstract

Polycrystalline single-phase Y-type Ba<subscript>0.5</subscript>Sr<subscript>1.5</subscript>Co<subscript>2-x</subscript>Ni<subscript>x</subscript>Fe<subscript>12</subscript>O<subscript>22</subscript> (X=0, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0) hexaferrite samples are prepared by the sol-gel auto combustion method. The prepared samples are investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD) and room temperature Mössbauer spectroscopy (MS) techniques. XRD data confirms the single-phase formation in all compounds with Rhombohedral structure. The Mossbauer spectra show the presence of magnetic ordering in all the samples at room temperature. The data is resolved into different components to estimate the distribution of Fe<superscript>3+</superscript> ions in different sites and it is observed that Fe<superscript>3+</superscript> occupation changes with Ni<superscript>2+</superscript> doping at cobalt site.
