Abstract

Many natural substances are efficient in vitro and in vivo for the treatment of various disorders. However, treatment is often limited by their low bioavailability, water solubility and permeation. As a consequence, drugs are administered frequently and in large doses. There is therefore a need for techniques to enhance the solubility, permeability and the stability. Here, we review methods to improve solubility using particle engineering, complexation, solid dispersion, solubilization, chemical modifications and use of nanocarriers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
