Effects of preparation conditions on the content of 1,4-dioxane in the product of narrow-distribution sodium fatty alcohol ether sulfate.

The content of 1,4-dioxane in narrow-distribution sodium fatty alcohol ether sulfate (narrow- distribution AES) was studied by using n(SO₃):n(narrow-distribution fatty alcohol ether), sulfation temperature, volume fraction of SO₃, storage time and neutralization temperature as single-factor variables on a laboratory device of sulfur trioxide falling film sulfation. The results showed that, the content of 1,4-dioxane in narrow-distribution AES would increase with the increase of excess SO₃, sulfation temperature, volume fraction of SO₃, storage time of narrow-distribution fatty alcohol ether, and neutralization temperature.
