Abstract
- The article discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the undervalued sectors of the healthcare industry in the U.S., such as nursing and housekeeping staff at nursing homes, care laborers and health aides in private residences. Topics covered include the historically exploitative nature of care labor in the U.S., its racialization and the precarious working conditions wrought by the pandemic.
