Abstract

Whereas his chapter concentrates on the period the film plays in, Ben Winsworth situates the movie in the era the film was actually shot. When I The New York Times i reviewed the Who's rock opera Quadrophenia in 1979, the newspaper was impressed by the directors' concern with 'the general experience of adolescents [and] the particular groups of people' the movie dealt with: The Mods. As the film was shot in the 1970s and shaped nostalgia in times of cultural and economic stagnation, the movie links different periods to each other. [Extracted from the article]
