Abstract
- Focuses on the petroleum industry of the U.S. Financial performance of the petroleum industry; Economic benefits of using kerosene in early days of development of the oil industry, in comparison to coal-oil; Decline in the popularity of kerosene with growing number of automobiles; Extraction of gasoline from natural gas; Wastage of oil resources in the mining industry; Amount of gasoline content of the crude oil by evaporation before it reaches the refinery; Decrease in the production of petroleum in comparison to its use in the country; Wastage of most of the petroleum due to improper construction of oil wells by different companies; Method which can be used to save fuel in automobiles; Estimation of the U.S. Bureau of Mines that out of 160 million barrels of fuel oil burned in the United States in 1917, at least 40 million barrels, or 1,700,000,000 gallons might have been saved by more intelligent operation of boiler plants; Need for the careful utilization of the oil resources.
