Abstract
- The article relates the experience of Iranian Mahnaz Alizadeh of being victimized by a human smuggling operation in her effort to find refuge in Canada. Topics discussed include the role of her footage of Iranian human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh in her decision to leave Iran, use of tourist visas or smuggling operation by irregular migrants to enter Canada, and benefit of barriers to refugees to smugglers according to Janet Dench of the Canadian Council for Refugees.
